Heineken International Graduate Programme (IGP)

The International Graduate Programme at Heineken is a highly competitive programme with even higher expectations for those that make it through the selection process. Minimum Criteria for Eligible Applicants
- A degree or will graduate before September 2014 - preferably a Masters.
a. If applying for Supply Chain, your degree needs to be in science or engineering.
b. If applying for Procurement, your degree needs to be in business, financial, commercial, economic, or technical discipline.
- No more than 2 years of professional work experience in your chosen function (voluntary and internships do not count).
- At least 6 months must be gained working, studying, or volunteering outside your home country.
- To speak at least three languages in business fluency (one of which must be English).
- A desire to live and work abroad.
- To have proven leadership skills.
- To have an affinity with your chosen specialisation.
- To have a genuine interest in other countries and cultures.
- To be able to demonstrate your drive and desire to succeed.
- To have a drivers’ license (for Commerce applicants).

Οι σύλλογοι ελλήνων φοιτητών των πανεπιστημίων Stanford (Hell.A.S), Berkeley (Hestia), MIT (HSA of MIΤ), Georgia Tech (Georgia Tech Hellenic Society), και το Corallia, ανακοινώνουν τη διοργάνωση, για τέταρτη συνεχή χρονιά, του προγράμματος Y-Educational Trip που θα πραγματοποιηθεί 5 - 13 Απριλίου 2013.

US Educational Trip 2013

Το 4ο Y-Educational Trip υλοποιείται με την ευγενική υποστήριξη της εταιρείας Sunlight, ενώ διευρύνεται ακόμα περισσότερο, τόσο με τη συμμετοχή για πρώτη φορά του φοιτητικού συλλόγου Georgia Tech Hellenic Society, καθώς και με τον αριθμό των συμμετεχόντων/ουσών φοιτητών/τριών, που θα ανέλθει σε είκοσι από δεκαεπτά στην προηγούμενη διοργάνωση.

Σκοπός του Προγράμματος

Το Y-Educational Trip δίνει την ευκαιρία σε φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες από ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια να επισκεφθούν κορυφαία ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα παγκοσμίως και να εφοδιαστούν με νέες ιδέες και γνώσεις, που θα μπορέσουν να εφαρμόσουν και να αξιοποιήσουν στο δικό τους ακαδημαϊκό περιβάλλον με την επιστροφή τους.

Οι φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουν μαθήματα, διαλέξεις και σεμινάρια, σύμφωνα με τα ακαδημαϊκά τους ενδιαφέροντα, να επισκεφθούν τεχνολογικές εταιρείες αιχμής και ερευνητικά κέντρα στη Silicon Valley, στο San Francisco, στη Βοστώνη και στην Ατλάντα, με κύριο στόχο την ανάδειξη της αλληλεπίδρασης των πανεπιστημίων με τα οικοσυστήματα καινοτομίας που στηρίζουν την πρωτοπορία τους, και να αποκομίσουν γνώσεις και πρακτικές, τις οποίες μπορούν να εφαρμόσουν κατά τη διάρκεια των σπουδών τους.

Ελπίδα όλων όσων συμβάλλουν στην υλοποίηση του 4ο Y-Educational Trip και όραμα του Corallia είναι οι φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες που θα λάβουν μέρος, να επιστρέψουν με μια πιο ολοκληρωμένη άποψη για την εκπαίδευση, με ιδέες και προτάσεις για το πώς μπορούν τα ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια να αναπτυχθούν, καθώς και να δώσουν οι ίδιοι μια ώθηση στους συμφοιτητές τους να δράσουν και να ανατρέψουν την υπάρχουσα ακαδημαϊκή πραγματικότητα.

Διαδικασία Υποβολής και Αξιολόγησης

Οι ενδιαφερόμενοι καλούνται να υποβάλουν ηλεκτρονική αίτηση έως τις 22 Φεβρουαρίου 2013, συμπληρώνοντας βασικές πληροφορίες, δίνοντας σύντομες γραπτές απαντήσεις σε τέσσερα ερωτήματα και επισυνάπτοντας βίντεο μεγίστης διάρκειας τριών λεπτών, στο οποίο θα πρέπει να αναπτύξουν ένα ή όλα από τα ερωτήματα που περιλαμβάνονται στην αίτηση. Δικαίωμα συμμετοχής έχουν οι φοιτητές/-τριες που βρίσκονται στο 2ο ή 3ο έτος των σπουδών τους (το ίδιο ισχύει και για τις πολυτεχνικές σχόλες με 5ετή φοίτηση).

Την επιλογή των φοιτητών και φοιτητριών που θα συμμετάσχουν στο 4ο Y-Educational Trip θα κάνουν τα μέλη των ελληνικών φοιτητικών συλλόγων των συμμετεχόντων πανεπιστημίων, βάσει των κριτηρίων που αναφέρονται στους όρους συμμετοχής.

Για την αξιολόγηση θα ληφθούν υπόψη η ηλεκτρονική αίτηση και το βίντεο (που είναι αναπόσπαστο μέρος της) καθώς και συνέντευξη στα αγγλικά με επιλαχόντες υποψηφίους όπου να συζητηθούν οι ιδέες των υποψηφίων ως προς τη δράση τους για τη βελτίωση του ακαδημαϊκού περιβάλλοντός τους και βάσει αυτών θα γίνει η τελική επιλογή των 20 φοιτητών και φοιτητριών που θα συμμετάσχουν στο 4ο Y-Educational Trip.

Κόστος

Το κόστος των αεροπορικών εισιτηρίων, μετ’ επιστροφής από το πλησιέστερο αεροδρόμιο διαμονής των συμμετεχόντων φοιτητών προς San Francisco, Βοστώνη ή Ατλάντα θα καλυφθεί από την εταιρεία Sunlight, η οποία για 2η συνεχή χρονιά υποστηρίζει το Πρόγραμμα. Δεν απαιτούνται έξοδα διαμονής, καθώς οι συμμετέχοντες θα φιλοξενηθούν από φοιτητές και μέλη των συλλόγων, ωστόσο καλούνται να καλύψουν κάποια έξοδα κατά τη διάρκεια της διαμονής τους, όπως μεταφορικά, διατροφή, κ.τ.λ., τα οποία εκτιμάται ότι θα κυμανθούν στα 200-300 ευρώ περίπου ανά άτομο.

Duties and responsibilities:

The candidate (m/f) will join the crop protection team to work on research and service projects aiming at:

the production of pest and disease forecast bulletins and the development of environmentally friendly control measures versus pests and diseases in agriculture and viticulture. She/he will support the data acquisition of a team comprising entomologists, phytopathologists and agro-climatologists with the main objective to develop disease and insect pest forecasting systems based on field observations, pathogen and insect identification and characterization, and the retrieval of meteorological data.
the extension and maintenance of fungal isolate collections and the development of molecular screening tools for fungicide resistant strains, insecticide resistant pests as well as viruses.

The applicant must show willingness to work outside in the field to conduct agronomic field trials including the monitoring of insects and fungal pathogens during the cropping season, as well as to be motivated to conduct molecular analyses and work with fungal cultures.

Qualifications:

Diploma of engineer/master in agronomy “bioengineer” (or equivalent) with preferentially a specialisation/experience in phytopathology.
Expertise in molecular biology (PCR, real time PCR, sequencing, laboratory bioassays, sequence data analysis) is a prerequisite.
Experience in fungal culture techniques and virology will be considered as an advantage.
A driving licence (B) is a prerequisite.
Fluency in French (administrative official language), as well as sufficient skills in English for scientific exchanges are necessary. Knowledge of Luxembourgish or German (interaction with farmers) is considered as an asset.
General software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet browsers) as well as the willingness to expand software skills are required.
She/he has to be structured and self-responsible to join a young, diversified environmental research department. The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary international team based both in Luxembourg and Belgium.

Fisheries Assessment Scientist

Purpose of job:

You will have responsibility for initiating, conducting and developing statistical analyses of data collected for the assessment of commercially exploited marine fish stocks and will provide advice on their management to Cefas, Defra and other customers. The post will include working with national and international scientific organisations, which will require travelling in the UK and overseas, and there will also be requirement to participate in research projects and potentially fieldwork at sea.

Main duties and responsibilies:

Cefas provides high level advice to the UK Government and the EU in key areas of fisheries management, including: monitoring and assessment of fish and shellfish stocks and their associated environment and interacting species, and the impact of human activities and natural factors on freshwater and marine fauna and ecosystems. The post-holder will develop and manage scientific analyses and provide analytical and advisory support on the assessment of marine fish stocks, and any potential implications for their associated fisheries. The duties will include development and application of statistical models, data analysis and statistical modelling, report writing and presentation of advice to a wide range of national and international customers. The role will require a high level of statistical and numerical programming, statistical analysis, project management, report writing and presentation skills.

Qualifications / experience / skills:

Academic qualifications required for direct entry to this Cefas Pay Band 5 post are a degree with a high level of mathematics / statistics content or a numerical discipline and significant, relevant work experience. Academic qualifications required for direct entry to this CEFAS Pay Band 6 post are a degree in a biological, mathematics, statistics, and substantial, relevant work experience either nationally or internationally. Ideally you will possess a PhD in a subject that includes a large proportion of numerical analysis.

The requirements can be waived for internal candidates who are able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

Experience in numerical modelling and data analysis, high level programming languages, identifying problems and the ability to demonstrate a high degree of familiarity with packages such as R are essential. Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex solutions to non-specialists are also required. The post requires strong personal motivation and flexibility, working effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team and willingness to travel both nationally and internationally to work directly with the organisations involved in this research. Experience of management of ecological or renewable resources, collaborating with other institutes both nationally and internationally, and the ability to identify and where appropriate to seek additional business opportunities in fisheries research, are all desirable.

Job: Research Assistant

A new department of Comparative Development and Genetics at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIZ) is seeking a Research assistant.

The successful applicant will be involved in research and contribute to lab organization and management under the direction of the Director Prof Miltos Tsiantis.

We are seeking a scientist with a University degree in biology or a related discipline and demonstrable high-level competence in at least one area of core importance to the department such as plant genetics or biological imaging, arising from either work experience in a high level research environment or a period of postgraduate training.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required including outstanding record keeping, good IT literacy, willingness and ability to learn new methodologies and strong communication skills including demonstrable ability to write clearly and concisely in English.

The successful applicant will be a strong team player, highly solution oriented and will have a key role in lab management, providing continuity in departmental technical expertise and resources and training of new or junior researchers.

Payment and benefits will depend on experience and will be according to the German TVöD scale. The position is initially for 2 years with very good possibilities for longer-term employment subject to a successful evaluation.

An appointment will only be made if and when a suitable candidate is identified and applications will be first evaluated during the third week of October.

Are you eligible to participate in the young professionals programme?

Candidates must be 32 years of age or younger as at 31 December 2012;
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree (Master's, Ph.D., or equivalent) in a field relevant to the work of FAO;
