Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will have to:
- manage and coordinate tasks among the staff of the Environmental observatory,
- develop, implement and maintain together with IT-specialists and researchers,
- state-of-the-art repositories and databases of environmental data following latest,
- meta-data standards and data management strategies,
- coordinate the participation of the Environmental observatory in the elaboration and execution of R&D projects and services,
- develop processing chains from raw data to validated data to support research projects,
- interface with the internal and external providers and users of the data.
- Ph.D. in environmental sciences or related fields and at least 3 years of proven experience in project and team management,
- training/knowledge/experience in geographic information systems, remote sensing data processing, scientific programming, or environmental data acquisition would be considered as an important asset,
- demonstrated scientific contributions to environmental sciences (please provide a list of publications),
- excellent communication, organizational, flexibility and interpersonal skills with a mandatory team-spirit,
- self-contained mode of work,
- supportive of innovative, interdisciplinary research,
- strong experience in environmental relational databases, data warehouse management, environmental data processing chains, environmental data quality assurance,
- the candidate must be fluent in English (scientific exchange) and have a good knowledge of French (administrative language) or German.
