BSRC Fleming is one of the most rapidly developing research centers in Greece. It was established in 1998 and today is actively involved in cutting edge research in biomedical sciences.

The Center currently hosts 14 research groups in 4 Institutes covering the areas of immunology, molecular biology & genetics , molecular oncology, cellular and developmental biology. Fleming has gained extensive visibility in the European Research Area through state of the art research programs in basic, as well as translational and applied science in biology, biomedicine and biotechnology.

Fleming is a non-profit organisation and operates under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Hellenic Ministry of Education. In 2005 Fleming was proclaimed a “Scientific Center of Excellence” following a GSRT sponsored site visit by an international review panel of distinguished scientists.
  • A position for a highly motivated researcher with computer and experimental skills is available at the lab of Artemis Hatzigeorgiou at BSRC Fleming in the context of the GSRT-funded SYNERGASIA project MICRORNA.
The project aims at the determination of the function of microRNAs using bioinformatic and experimental approaches.

Candidates should have:
  • A PhD is not required.
  • Experience in Computational Biology sciences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Greek and English.
  • Prior knowledge in the field of microRNA analysis will be advantageous.
The position is for 4 months.

  • Positions for highly motivated Biomedical Researchers are available in the lab of Dr. George Kollias at BSCR Fleming. Projects aim at the molecular and cellular mapping of pathways involved in the pathogenesis of arthritis, chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer using animal models. Selected scientists will join an interactive research group that operates across molecular biology and genetics, systems biology and disease therapy. Positions are funded for 3-4 years by several European and national grants.
Requirements:
  • Postdoctoral researchers: Candidates should have a PhD in Life Sciences and a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, mouse genetics, biochemistry or immunology. At least one high impact, first-author publication is required.
  • PhD students: Candidates should have a post-graduate degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Life Sciences or related fields with specialisation preferably in molecular or cellular biology. Εxperience with animal models will be considered an asset.
  • Research Technicians: Candidates should have a degree in Biology, Lab Management or related fields and at least 2 years of recent experience in a research laboratory setting. Expertise in basic molecular biology techniques and/or animal handling is required.
The positions offer excellent opportunities for career development and competitive starting remuneration with the possibility of further adjustments linked to project development. Appointments are initially for a year and can be renewed.
