The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, a fast growing public establishment for applied scientific research and technology transfer in Luxembourg, has an opening on a fixed-term contract basis for its internationally recognized Department ‘Environment and Agro-biotechnologies’ (EVA) for a researcher in environmental microbiology.

Duties and responsibilities:

We are looking for a researcher to work on a project about the microbiological quality of drinking water resources in Luxembourg.

The objectives of the project are (1) to screen sensitive resources for microbial hazards such as enteric bacteria, parasites and virus and toxic cyanobacteria, and (2) to relate the appearance of contamination events to the hydroclimatological conditions.

The work will consist in sampling the resources, isolating cultivable bacteria and virus on selective media, typing bacteria by multi-locus sequencing and viruses by sequencing after cloning and preparing cyanobacteria for toxin analyses.

Qualifications:

PhD degree in microbiology with competencies in molecular biology (qPCR, cloning, sequencing);
Experience with water management will be considered as an asset;
The candidate must be fluent in English (scientific exchanges), French (administrative language) will be considered as a real advantage.
